Magnificent 7 medals at Southerns

Congratulations to the Backwell Karate competitors who took away a magnificent 7 medals at the KUGB Southern Region Championships, held in Reading on the weekend.

The championship saw club instructor Tim Griffiths secure Gold in the Senior Male Kata event for the third time while the Backwell Karate kumite team reached the final for the third year running, narrowly beaten into Silver medal position.

Success came from all age groups in the club, with Steven Connell securing a silver in the Male Junior Kumite (18-20 years) and both Fergus Puddy and Sam Henley taking bronze in Under 16 kumite and kata, respectively.
