Success at the Legend Open

Congratulations to the Backwell Karate competitors that travelled to Bracknell on Saturday to take part in the 15th annual Legend Open Karate tournament.

Our squad of ten performed excellently, picking up five placings in total, including three titles. The elite Senior Team Kata combination of Steven Connell, Tim Griffiths and Devon Troskie secured first place with a solid performance of Enpi, Tim also became Legend Open Champion in the Senior Male Kata event, while Aaron secured Gold in the aged 14-15 Junior Kata event, which is Aaron's first major title.

Both Ian and Steven Connell put in excellent performances in their categories, with Ian picking up silver in Veteran's Kumite and Steven earning bronze in the Cadet Kata event.

This was a useful benchmark to test ourselves ahead of the upcoming KUGB Nationals (May) and Southern Region Championships (June) and it was fantastic to see so many excellent performances from everyone on what was an exceptionally long day. Congratulations to all that represented the club.
