4 titles for Backwell at South West Championships

Congratulations to everyone that took part in the KUGB South West Championships in Devon on Saturday 31st October.

This was the first South West Championships since 1997. At the time Backwell took a small squad across to Bath. This time a few more members travelled down the motorway to Devon to compete against KUGB clubs across the region.

We did brilliantly, with our adults performing the best of any club at the tournament and our younger competitors putting on a great show too. In total we picked up 4 titles and 10 placings in all. Here are the results for our club:

Bronze in Senior Female Kumite: Nicki Watts
Bronze in Boys over 5'3" Kumite: Fergus Puddy
Bronze in Children's Ippon Kumite: Josh Mashford
4th in Senior Kata: Dan Salter
